Join the Periscope crew

I'm building a crew of like-minded solo practitioners who train, advise, and implement AI for nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations.

Training Strategy Implementation

Why now?

Most organizations in the social sector have AI tools by now. Far fewer have gotten much out of them. Staff try a few things, a handful of people get good, and the tools stay disconnected from the systems where the real work happens.

The gap between having AI and making it work is where I've spent the last two years, and it's where some of the most useful work in the sector is waiting to be done.

Periscope brings the client relationships, the methods, and the AI-native tools I've built for this work. You bring deep, proven experience in one of the three areas below. Together, we can take on projects bigger than any of us could alone, for organizations whose missions depend on getting this right.

What everyone on the crew has in common

  • Strong AI fluency. You use AI tools daily in your own work and know both the power and the limitations of the technology.
  • You work across platforms. Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and the systems organizations actually run. You don't depend on one vendor.
  • Proven experience. You've done this kind of work for real clients, and you have references who will vouch for it.
  • You care about the social sector. You want to help nonprofits, foundations, and mission-driven organizations create more impact for the people they serve.

The three profiles

Training and Upskilling

Design and deliver AI training that sticks: one-on-one coaching, team workshops, and cohort sessions, virtual or in person, tailored to how each organization works.

You've done this before
  • Led or supported one-on-one and group trainings, virtually or in person
  • Taught adults to use AI tools in their actual jobs, not just demonstrated features
  • Adapted content for different roles and comfort levels in the same room
Nice to have
  • Experience training staff at nonprofits or foundations
  • A training you designed yourself that you can share

Not a fit if: your training experience is mostly one-to-many webinars or generic prompt courses.

Starting at $150/hr, based on experience

Strategy

Help leaders decide what to adopt, in what order, at what cost, and how they'll know it's working: readiness diagnostics, adoption roadmaps, governance, and measurement.

You've done this before
  • Led or supported an organizational strategy or technology implementation strategy
  • Worked directly with senior leaders and turned ambiguous goals into a plan they acted on
  • Can connect AI decisions to budget, staffing, policy, and culture
Nice to have
  • Experience with nonprofits, foundations, or public agencies
  • Governance or policy work

Not a fit if: your strategy experience is mostly tool selection, or you haven't seen a plan through to implementation.

Starting at $150/hr, based on experience

Implementation

Embed with client teams for weeks or months to make AI actually work in their systems: connect AI tools to CRMs and data systems, configure and test workflows, and make sure staff know how to use what was set up. This is configuration, not custom code.

You've done this before
  • Led or supported the customization and configuration of enterprise platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace) with AI tools for real clients
  • Set up workflows or automations that staff relied on after you left
  • Documented and trained people on what you built
Nice to have
  • Nonprofit CRM experience
  • Zapier, Make, Power Automate, or similar tools

Not a fit if: your experience is building AI automations only for yourself, or you're mostly a software developer looking for coding projects.

Starting at $150/hr, based on experience

What to expect

  • No guaranteed work. Joining the crew is not a job offer or a promise of hours. You'll be the first people I call when a project needs your skills.
  • Work under the Periscope banner. You deliver as part of a Periscope team, using shared methods and tools, under a subcontractor agreement that includes confidentiality and IP terms.
  • A real vetting process. A short conversation, a work sample, and reference checks. I'd rather have a small crew I trust than a long list.
  • Timing. I expect to bring crew members onto projects by early 2027, possibly sooner.

Express interest

A few minutes is all this takes. I read every submission and follow up with the people whose experience fits current or upcoming work.

Your experience

Three or four sentences. Who was the client, did you lead or support it, and what changed because of it?

A link is best. A short description works too.

Can you provide two client references for this kind of work?

Availability and rate

Your answers come straight to me. Nothing is shared with anyone else.

Know someone who fits?

Referrals from people I trust are the best way this crew gets built. Send me a name and I'll take it from there. I'll mention that you passed their name along.

Thanks for the referral

I'll take a look and reach out to them directly if they're a good fit. Watch for a confirmation email in the next few minutes. You can send another name any time.
